Madagascar Teal

Anas bernieri

This duck feeds in shallow waters by filtering food items, like small invertebrates and plant matter.

They are found in coastal lakes, mangrove forests and estuaries.

 

Conservation

The total population is decreasing rapidly. Habitat loss and disturbance due to prawn farming, rice cultivation, and hunting are major threats to this species.
