The Watusi is a breed of African cattle with striking horns that are the largest of any species of cattle. The species plays an important role in the culture of several African tribes.
Originally from East Africa Watusi are a hardy species particularly suited to harsh dry conditions but have adapted to many climates and are now kept throughout much of Africa and the rest of the world.
Conservation
As a domesticated species, Watusi are not threatened by extinction and exist in very high numbers. This is thanks to the efforts of private breeders, zoos, and associations.
